Chili

Chili

This is a Spanish/Mexican dish which can be prepared using a whole lot of variations but this is what we like. It is a very simple recipe which needs just one pot/dish.  This recipe was given to me by  a very dear friend of ours.

Ingredients

  • Ground turkey - 1 lb
  • tomato sauce 8 oz can - 1
  • Rotel diced tomatoes with habanero -1 10 oz can
  • Black Beans - 1 15 oz can
  • McCormick's chili seasoning mix (hot) - 1 packet
  • Cilantro - finely chopped (for garnish)
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon

Instructions

In a pot, heat oil and put the ground turkey in.  Sauté the turkey till light brown.

When browned,add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.

Check the salt because most of the canned stuff tend to be salty.

Garnish with finely chopped cilantro.

To serve:-

Can be served with white rice.

Can be served as an appetizer with shredded cheese on top and some tortilla chips.

Can also be served on top of warm tortillas and can be garnished with finely chopped onions, cilantro and jalapeño.  You can also add fresh cream and shredded cheese as toppings.
